In the late 1920s, a photographic movement known as Neue Fotografie emerged in Germany.
This name was given to the efforts of German photographers at the time to create new photography, innovating previous ideas of the medium amidst societal changes and the transformation and expansion of perception brought about by the advent of the machine age.
When facing the 170 works of photographers who represented German photography in the 1920s and 1930s, we trace back to the roots of photographic expression and realize why it came to be called "Neu."
