With a desire to bring beauty and joy into people’s everyday lives, Inokuma worked across a wide range of fields. One example is his public art, such as the large mural Freedom in the central concourse of JR Ueno Station. He also created illustrations for novels and magazine covers, and even designed the Mitsukoshi department store wrapping paper Hana Hiraku (Blossoming Flowers). These works continue to shine with a fresh vibrancy today. This exhibition features many aspects of Inokuma’s art that appear in our daily lives, with a focus on previously unreleased works.
