"Ever since he was a little boy, Inokuma-san loved to draw. He created lots of fun and interesting pictures."
The picture book Inokuma-san, which opens with this line, introduces the life and colorful career of Genichiro Inokuma (1902–1993) — affectionately known as “Inokuma-san” — through the words of poet Shuntaro Tanikawa.
From realistic self-portraits and portraits of people, to humorous drawings of his favorite birds and cats, to abstract works inspired by cities, to many faces, colors, and shapes — there’s something new to discover with every turn of the page.
After you've seen many pictures, you can enjoy some coloring pages. Why not have fun with Inokuma-san’s artwork and discover your favorite piece? Let’s play with Inokuma-san’s art! Let’s become friends with Inokuma-san!
