This is a related book for the special exhibition Butsubutsu held from July 15 to September 23, 2012.
It features things collected by the painter Genichiro Inokuma, selected by the stylist Miyoko Okao, and photographed by the photographer Takashi Homma.
Over the long life of a painter, various things in the home become truly good friends to us; some coexist quietly like lovers. — Genichiro Inokuma
As well known from his book Painter’s Toy Box (Bunka Publishing Bureau, 1984), Inokuma had a side as a collector. Whether it was trash picked up from the street or valuable antiques, he cherished all the things that naturally gathered in his life. This collection is now housed at our museum. From it, the stylist Miyoko Okao selected things that caught her interest, which the photographer Takashi Homma then captured in photographs.
This book contains 104 wonderful things selected and photographed in this way. On the facing pages of the photographs, you can find the lively conversations between Takashi Homma and Miyoko Okao during the shoot. The book also includes an essay by Toshiyuki Horie at the end. The book design was done by Atsuki Kikuchi.
