《展覧会説明文》
見る者に鮮烈な印象を与える絵画を多彩なバリエーションで表した中園孔二（1989-2015）。東京藝術大学卒業後、関東を拠点に制作活動を行ったのち、瀬戸内をのぞむ香川県の土地柄に魅かれ2014年末に移住しましたが、その翌年に25歳の若さで生涯の幕を閉じました。
卓越したセンスによって生み出された絵画の数々は、彼個人の内的必然性に基づくものであるとともに、現代社会の過剰なイメージの奔流をも思わせ、私たちの意識の奥底に強く訴えかけます。
ぼくが何か一つのものを見ている時、となりで一緒になって見てくれる誰かが必要なんだ。
中園はノートにこのような言葉を書き留めています。本展は、最後を過ごした香川県において、過去最大規模の個展として約200点の作品を一堂にご紹介します。それら無数の絵画とともに、彼が見ていた「一つのもの」が立ち現れるでしょう。
